Building on the huge success of the BBC’s national poetry and spoken word festival Contains Strong Language, Mark was commissioned to direct and design a new site-specific piece. Written by award-winning poet and playwright Louise Wallwein, Home Town Story was a captivating theatrical journey through the back streets of Hull. People were invited to discover the poetry and voices that shout from the rooftops, whisper round the corners and echo through Hull’s squares.

Audiences gathered to embark on a journey of discovery of Hull’s lesser known places and the stories of its characters along the way, meeting local and international poets, wordsmiths and a superb cast of citizen performers en route who brought the poetry to life.
